	The joyful colorful application icons in the rectangular shape on a smartphone or tablet screen are meant to be useful tools. Beyond anything I imagined. While apps make life easier for some, they clutter up my view and I long to make my own. I look beyond the 100’s of apps available for a simple nine.

	Marie is a paste paper maker who creates and binds books that open a person’s view like Apps do. She made this book in the shape of a smart phone which she found to be everywhere, whereas a book is a rare find.

									This is a book of beginnings and endings represented by the painted paper of ocean waves overlaid with poetic verse. We never know when one wave begins and another one ends no matter how many hours we may have our eyes on them. At the ocean we come across groundswell, breakers, rough surf and the calmness of a steady flow of waves before us. We are reminded that time passes us over and over againin remarkable waves. We only need to go with the flow. For tomorrow is as unpredictable as the next wave.
