The paste papers are all original hand painted designs by Marie Kelzer using acrylic paints mixed with methyl cellulose paste and combs, brushes and other tools to create the designs. 

Hand lettering with Micro archival pigment ink. Text paper and painted paste paper endpapers are 80# Cover Neeneh Classic Crest.  The paste papers mounted inside and on cover are painted onto Mohawk Superfine 80” text paper.   All are acid free.

 The cloth on spine and on corners is upholstery cloth lined with Pelon.   Hand sewn folded stubbed pages onto linen tapes.

A compilation of 13 selected hand painted paste paper designs representing the colors of the ocean. The designs encompass methodically thought out designs and free flowing painterly pieces.
Hand sewn onto linen tapes.  Soft cover binding with stubbed pages.  Hand lettered text using archival pigment ink.  The paste papers mounted onto the cover and pages are all original hand painted by Marie Kelzer using acrylic paints and methyl cellulose paste.

BETWEEN THE LINES represents the result of techniques used to create designs containing lines.  The “lined” designs in this portfolio consist of 13 Paste Papers paired up with the mirror image design from which they originated.  Each design requires two papers.  The final design is placed on the right-hand page directly opposite the original design located on the left-hand page.  This original paper design ends up looking like a ghost version of the final design. The techniques involved are monoprint-like in the sense that one paper is “pulled” off of the other.  However, the paper “pulled” off is the finished final design.

       Seven Deadly Sins ± Seven  Heavenly Virtues - Lessons from the Financial Crisis of 2008

This book harbors on the theme of the 7 deadly sins, one of which is greed, paired up with the 7 heavenly virtues. The inspiration grew out of the 2008 October Surprise.  The surprise was not the invasion of IRAN by the lame duck president George W. Bush but the economic meltdown due largely to the housing bubble creating a large number of subprime mortgages leading to a plethora of credit derivatives and the presence of greed in the beginning of the 21st Century which led to a liquidity crisis and finally a recession, locally and globally. Human nature cannot resist taking a gamble on a good deal.
We all hope that this financial crisis steers humankind away from deadly sins toward the heavenly virtues.  A glossary of the sins and virtues plus the descriptive terms of the financial crisis is included.

Computer designed and printed by binder on Mohawk Superfine 80# text.  24 fonts used.  The Seven Sins and Seven Virtues text are represented in a ticker tape fashion. Chapter Heading pages include paste papers and numbers hand stamped.

Handsewn onto linen tapes. Hand bound cover design with paste papers. Paste Papers on cover and throughout are all original hand painted designs, using acrylic paints and methyl cellulose paste, by Marie Kelzer.

As recent history tells us, the stock market cannot be predicted entirely by mathematical models.  This book is about the relationship between raw numbers and emotions and the resulting highs and lows of the DJIA.  As illustrated by columns of emotions and a chart of market data, we are not only influenced by raw numbers but also by “herd mentality” and the overpowering emotions of greed when numbers are going up and fear when they are heading down
